Multiple personalities: a key question

The editor of UK-based Dramatis Personae asks a question about Multiple Personality Disorder (also sometimes called Dissociative Identity Disorder):

"...Why is it the diagnosis only applies to (predominantly) white middle-aged women in the Western world?

The International Criminal Court, UN War Crimes Tribunal, International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, or indeed no other war crimes or genocide tribunal currently sitting or held in the past has ever heard of any testimony regarding the creation of multiple personality disorders amongst any women or children victims of atrocities.

And the atrocities are often beyond comprehension. In particular the use of rape as a 'weapon-of-war' has been established in use in the past, and continues in use even in modern times..."
