The Anglican and Catholic churches have had their fair share of false memory cases. This one has been taking place within The Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints:
In July of 2004, Warren Jeffs’ nephew Brent Jeffs filed a civil lawsuit accusing Warren Jeffs and two other uncles, of repeatedly molesting him at his grandfather’s home in Sandy, Utah, when he was five years old...
In his book Lost Boy, Brent Jeffs claims that the alleged abuses occurred during Sunday services at his grandfather’s home, when Warren Jeffs would remove him from the children’s class and take him to a bathroom, where two unnamed uncles stood guard. In his lawsuit, Brent identifies the uncles as Warren’s brothers Blaine and Leslie and says that they participated in the abuse...
...Although he describes in an early chapter of his book the supposed abuse he received at the hands of his uncle, Brent Jeffs admits that he had no conscious memory of such events until he underwent regressive hypnosis therapy at the hands of Dr. Larry Beal, a psychiatrist hired and paid for by Dan Fischer, who was actively recruiting “victims” to make accusations against Warren Jeffs...
