Mental help: procedures to avoid

The long-running QuackWatch website bills itself as ‘Your Guide to Quackery, Health Fraud, and Intelligent Decisions’, and is operated by Stephen Barrett, a retired psychiatrist living near Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

In addition to heading Quackwatch, Dr. Barrett is vice-president of the Institute for Science in Medicine and a Fellow of the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry.
